Careless vs. Reckless Driving

Whether it sounds like it or not, there is a difference between careless driving and reckless driving. Careless driving is usually defined as "failing to drive in a careful and prudent manner under the circumstances to the extent that it puts others at risk". Careless driving is mostly unintentional and can be attributed to something as minor as not paying attention on the road.

Reckless driving laws are usually defined as "driving with a willful or a wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property". Reckless driving is a much more serious offence and if convicted, one could face jail time or loss of your driver's license. If convicted, one could face a penalty of up to $1,000 and/or a period of up to 90 days in prison.
